BSA Troop 355 was founded by Don Galipp and Eddie Cline in 1998. For more than a decade the Troop provided adventure and citizenship for more than 100 boys, 15 of whom reached the rank of Eagle.
Scoutmaster Mike Lewis took the reins in 2008.
Troop 355 is boy-led, with an active corps of trained leaders provided guidance for what we hope will be high adventure for the boys. The troop aims to camp at least once a month, year round (usually not difficult in Texas). Summer camps in 2008 and 2009 were at Camp Cherokee in Athens, Texas. Previous summer camps have ranged as far as Colorado, Arkansas and Tennessee, as well as camps in other councils in Texas.
More than three dozen boys and leaders participated in Philmont National Scout Ranch treks and the Troop looks for future high adventure opportunities at Philmont and other High Adventure Bases.
Troop 355 is sponsored by First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Duncanville, Texas. Troop 355 traces its roots back to the founding of Pack 355 more than 35 years ago. We have a rich tradition of Scouting, but we build on that tradition every year.
The Troop meets Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at First Christian Church (203 South Main Street in Duncanville), except on holidays of the Duncanville ISD school calendar (and in 2009, the Troop has no scheduled meetings in July due to Scout and Scouter conflicts).
Life is an adventure. Scouting builds character. Come join the journey.
